Spiced Tea - Apple Peel Edition

After baking, apple peels are often left behind. It's worth making spiced tea from them. The aroma of spices — cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, or whichever you choose — fills the house while the tea warms you up, and the apple peels avoid ending up in the trash.

Ingredients for one person:

woman is holding a full mug of tea

Peels of 2 organic apples

3 dl water

One cinnamon stick

One cardamom pod, if available

A few cloves, if at home

Sugar, honey, or any sweetener of your choice

Place the peels with a cinnamon stick and other spices of your liking in a small saucepan to simmer. I simmer them for about 10 minutes. Then, I pour it into a mug, sweeten it, and sip it slowly.

The peels of red apples lose their color during cooking, but in return, the tea turns into a pinkish-red hue.
